Tell us about yourself!
Gah! I hate talking about myself so here are some bullet points. I grew up in SW Pennsylvania and my blood bleeds black and gold. I work in the craft beer industry and talk to others about beer almost on a daily basis. I used to be a distance runner until I moved to Colorado. Elevation sucks. I have two rescue dogs, a boxer and a pit bull. I swear a lot and am very sarcastic. I cook everyday, multiple times a day because I love it. My husband is OK with this arrangement. Deadlifts are life. Socks make me ridiculously happy.
Why do you CrossFit?
Because I needed something to keep me active and healthy. I wanted something that would help me be better at my job (kegs and cases of beer are heavy!). Also, I’m not getting any younger, so I was looking for something that would keep me healthy as I age. I needed to step away from running since it was frustrating me so much but going to a Globo Gym and taking a spin class didn’t really appeal to me. Crossfit was the perfect fit!
What makes Choice City so special?
The coaches and the atmosphere. I had a really bad Crossfit experience several years ago and almost completely wrote it off. But after moving to Colorado, I realized that not every gym is going to be the same and decided to give it another shot. I looked at a lot of gyms around town and Coach Michael was the only one who answered my email right away and didn’t have any concerns with me coming out to check out the gym. I observed a class and went through the intro with him not long after. The other athletes were welcoming and friendly. It was nice to be able to walk into a gym and feel like you belonged there. It helped ease my anxiety with starting something new and didn’t feel intimidating at all. I’ve met so many new people and made a lot of friends through the gym. It’s a great feeling to be able to workout with your friends and family each day.
