170804 - FYF - Nutrition Friday!
Hey y'all, here's another installment of Yes, Dad.
Nutrition is pretty easy when you have the support of your friends and family.
If you let people know that you're trying to get your shit together, they're more likely to support your decisions. If not, then they're shit friends (honestly, do I have to tell you that?)
Now, you don't want anyone that is going to berate you and make you feel bad. You just want folks that won't try to goad you into drinking a bunch or eating pizza when you're trying to stay straight. I'm guilty of that myself.
Set yourself up for success:
Whenever we do a nutrition seminar, I tell folks to clear out their closets of junk food. Eat it, chuck it, whatever.
Set aside about 2 hours on Sunday to prep as much food as you possibly can.
If you're single and feel like you can't eat 6 of the same meal before it goes bad, set up a trade with friends. Or, freeze a couple of the portions.
Having food ready to pop into the microwave or throw in a pan removes the "I've gotta have something convenient so pizza it is!" urgency.
Find a vegetable to two that you really like and buy frozen in bulk.
Buy higher quality ground beef when it's on sale and freeze a bunch of it. You can also make bulk taco seasoned meat and throw it into everything.
Just like the Boy Scouts say, Be Prepared. The better you're prepared, the better you'll be and you won't slide down the hill of failure.
Try it out this Sunday!
