200917 - Soapbox Thursday - 3 H's of Checking Your Health

Okay…this seems on the inappropriate side but it has truly opened my eyes to an easy self-check for people who workout hard like we do and take on lots of stressors.

The 3 H’s of checking how you’re doing is, are you….HAPPY, HORNY, and HUNGRY. These three things are signals that our brain gives us to indicate a particular function of the body. When those systems are working as they should one of these or potentially all of them aren’t felt therefore you can easily point to an issue.

HAPPY - You don’t need to be all sunshine and rainbows here but are you generally satisfied with life the majority of the time? On a typical basis, you should feel fulfilled and have some form of excitement for events ahead. If this is not true for you, then your serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin, and endorphins aren’t doing their job for some reason! This can lead to depression, anxiety, and low life satisfaction!

HORNY - Horniness is all about hormones. Without normal levels of estrogen or testosterone, our body doesn’t crave morning sex or snuggles in the sack. This can create an imbalance that will trip up your confidence, your happiness, and your sexual health.

HUNGRY - If you’re not getting hunger pangs frequently it might mean that your metabolism is not functioning properly or under-active. This can be caused by thyroid issues or lack of movement. Both of which can lead to many other problems in the body and need to be addressed.
