Coach's Training Time

Word for word from Clay Edgin of Santa Cruz Strength because he's saying what we're doing. What I've added specific to us is in italics.

There’s a long-standing joke that if you want to stop training, all you have to do is open up a gym.  It’s ironic that I’m here 12 hours a day, 5 days a week and 5 hours or more on weekends. I’ll be lucky to get in one or two sessions with myself. That’s my bad. When I had a “real” job, it was easy to carve out time for myself at the gym after work. So, I’m going to carve out some time again.

Starting Monday, January 4th, the block from 11am – 12:30 p.m. on weekdays will be Coach’s Training time. The gym will still be open and you can get in your workouts, but there won’t be anyone available to help you if you need instruction. It’ll be a time without music too. We’re looking to create a slightly more focused work environment during this time where the coaches can concentrate on their own training and would appreciate anyone training during these times to adhere to these requests.

If this is an environment in which you think you’d like to train, by all means please join us. If you’re not quite ready to work out completely autonomously and still need some guidance, coming to a class hour or open gym hour would be a better option.

My coaching staff and I still have a lot of goals we want to hit in our respective sports, and when we’re training consistently for them I think we’re all able to bring more to the table when coaching. Stronger, fitter coaches are happier, more engaged coaches!

Thanks in advance!
