Go hard!
CrossFit athletes- we’re an intense breed. Regular workouts and group fitness classes don’t satisfy us. We want the variety, challenge, and community that comes with CrossFit.
Today I want to talk about going hard in our workouts. Of course all workouts are scalable, and not everyone is at the same physical fitness level to be able to do the same skills. However, you should still be pushing yourself!
When I was in high school track, we had shirts that said “If you finish with something, you ran for nothing.” This same concept applies to CrossFit. It’s something that I struggle with sometimes- scaling enough but not too much and pushing myself all the way to the end.
Have you ever experienced a WOD that left you totally exhausted? Couldn’t get off the floor, had to eat a ton and sleep a ton afterwards exhausted? I know we all have at some point! Let’s push that hard every WOD. Let’s take a few seconds less break to catch our breath between sets. Let’s string together those reps. Let’s give the WOD our all.
After all, that’s what we are at CrossFit for. We don’t CrossFit just because. We do it to improve our all around fitness in so many areas- aerobic, gymnastic, strength, and more! If you’re like me, most of your days are spent sitting or mostly sedentary. Sure, I walk around a little during the day. I enjoy taking walks with friends and our dogs. I occasionally go for a run or hike on the weekend. But other than CrossFit, the majority of my day is not very active. This isn’t representative of everyone, of course, but if this sounds like your day it should be even more reason to go hard during the WOD! CrossFit is my main physical activity so it should really count!
