171002 - Motivation Monday - Future YOU
It's easy to only focus on the NOW YOU. If the NOW YOU is suffering or having a hard time, the typical response is to help that person. That can manifest in the form of resting for a while mid-workout, avoiding a movement you don't like, or just not coming to the gym at all. Let's consider FUTURE YOU for a moment. That person isn't feeling the same pain you are right now, that person is feeling the pain of regret or disappointment from NOW YOU's actions. Yes, the cool weather brings blanket wrapped cuddles and comfort foods but as the weather changes, don't let your workout routine change. When the sun comes back out and the beach/pool/lake is calling your name or your don't have a skill you've been wanting or you're making that big difficult jump to restart your fitness after a drop-off, make FUTURE YOU thrilled that the NOW YOU considered that person and how they would feel about the NOW actions.
