Tell us about yourself!
I was originally born in Steamboat and when my parents divorced I moved to Vermont with my mom. I spend most of my life between Vermont and Colorado. I ended up back in Colorado in 2001 to go to the University of Colorado and I have been here ever since. I went to graduate school at Colorado State for human nutrition and I am currently working as a Registered Dietitian. I think most people know me as a runner, but I also love to ski. Another fact that many people don't know about me is that I had a double major in college and my second major was in studio art. I have a creative side and love to paint.

Why do you "CrossFit"?
I started crossfit because I was interested in trying something new and working on my weaknesses. My dad and stepmom go to crossfit up in Steamboat and I went a few times up there when I visited them. I always thought I was athletic, but I could not do a squat and this really upset me. I decided that I would join a gym in Fort Collins and chose Choice City because I liked the description on the website. Micheal got back to me right away and that impressed me as well. I have been doing crossfit for a little over a year and I have noticed that while training for my marathon last June I was able to run less mileage. I feel stronger than I ever have in my entire life and I have developed skills that I would never have been able to develop on my own. I will continue to do crossfit because it is constantly challenging me and I believe it has helped me become a more well rounded athlete.

What makes Choice City so special?
Choice city is special because I feel comfortable there. I can ask questions and not feel stupid. Especially in the beginning when i had no idea what EMOM meant or what the heck a double under was. Michael patiently worked with me to improve my squat technique and is good about pushing me when I need it or reminding me to back off when I am feeling under the weather. I do most of my run training by myself and I really appreciate having the community at crossfit. It definitely helps to have other people there to offer support and high fives after the workout.
