170720 - Throwback Thursday

Judy and Kelsey both working on agility. Age is no limit!

We're nearing our 10th year as a CrossFit affiliate, and one thing that consistently stays the same, is that our women rock.
Historically, women have gotten the short end of the stick. Especially when it comes to sport (Click to read a primer on Title IX.)
One of the best things about CrossFit is that all over the country and across the world, women are on equal footing. Women athletes in CrossFit are arguably better known, more popular and better overall athletes.
Hell, our women are more consistent, more stoic about suffering, tend to ignore pain, and out-technique, out-compete and just end up being superior to the men. I'd love to achieve more balance in the force, but until the Y chromosomes start showing up and stepping up, the ladies have it.

When we first came up with a logo to represent our gym, the obvious choices were mountains, and a strong woman. The image of a powerful female, excited about her overhead squat or catch in the bottom of the snatch position, was at the top, juxtaposed with the word ATHLETE.

With the change in the name and logo, we lost the image, be we haven't lost our badass women.
