210401 - Member of the Month - HAIVEN
1) Background/History
Hey I am Haiven! I am 20 years old. I am a student at CSU, and I will be graduating in December 2021! I am currently an intern here at Choice City! I have a dog named Cowboy, and he’s my best friend!
2) Why CrossFit?
I grew up playing sports, so when I moved to college I needed something more than just your typical commercial gym s*#t. I love that I always have something to work on and to get better at and that I have coaches to guide me. I may have gotten my five pull-ups, but I still need to work on them. I’m not the greatest at rowing, so I can always work on getting better at that too.
3) What makes CCCF so special?
CCCF is not just where I go to workout each day, but a place I know I can always go to when I need someone to talk to or whatever it may be. The community’s got my back and they’re my family! So much love and support! Not just in CrossFit but in life too! The coaches also pay attention to detail with each of their athletes. For instance, they know when I should go heavier or maybe scale, but they always push me to be better and that’s really important to me.
4) Favorite and Least favorite movements in CrossFit?
Favorite - Power clean and lateral/bar facing burpees
Least favorite - wall balls or rowing
5) Most memorable workout?
The only one I can think of right now is 21.2. I really wasn’t feeling myself that day, but I ended up getting the workout finished! Which I am proud of, but I want to go back and do it again... ha maybe.
6) Future gym and life goals?
Gym goals: Complete the intern program, get my L-1, and start coaching at the gym. Muscle-ups and handstand push-ups would be cool too! Or ya know all gymnastic movements ha! But I can’t be greedy.
Life goals: Graduate from college early! Do more that makes me happy!
