210701 - Member of the Month - SASHA

1. Background/History?
I'm originally from Illinois. Moved to Colorado 17 years ago. I have never been very athletic, I didn't really even start working out until I was in my 20's. At that time I was terrified to go to a gym and was doing P90X at home. I always had anxiety about going to the gym and working out in front of people. In 2012 I lost my brother. And I lost myself too. Through the loss of my brother I started meditating and going to yoga regularly. Eventually I got the confidence to join a gym, 9 years ago. I started going to yoga regularly and lifting weights. That was the beginning of my journey!

2. Why CrossFit?
Honestly I would have never tried it but Coach Lo offered me the space to teach yoga in trade for CrossFit. I thought, what the heck, I got nothing to lose. SO I tried it and fell in love with lifting weights all over again!

3. Favorite moments in CrossFit?

My favorite moments were when I could finally understand complex lingo movements and know how to do them, and climbing the rope for the first time. Least favorite moments are when I want to die and think, "why am I doing this." Lol-it's hard but it makes me stronger.

4. What makes CrossFit so special?

CrossFit found me when I asked the universe for help. Seriously, it has changed my life forever! Losing 10 pounds, keeping it off and looking strong AF is also a plus! CrossFit has helped my mental health in crazy ways. I wake up and think about the gym on good days and bad days. It's my safe place to be vulnerable and do healing work! Surrounded by love and awesome people!

5. Most memorable workout?

Murph! It kills you. I will never forget that.

6. Future gym and life goals?
LIFE -
I want to do more yoga training, eventually host and teach yoga retreats, and build my clientele as a wellness coach!
GYM - Pull ups, toes to bar! And double unders! I got my first one yesterday!
