161116 - CrossFit Benchmark | Wednesdays with Coach Lauren
CrossFit is a super successful and accessible fitness program for all ages, body types, and backgrounds…I like to think that here at CCCF, we do a fantastic job of making this a reality for all of our athletes. That being said, CrossFit is only ONE hour of your day. I know Coach Michael has said this before but I think it is a good point to be reiterated. If you’re not a “CrossFitter” the other 23 hours of the day than you’re not going to see the most out of your experience with us. So, what does a “CrossFitter” do?
The key is in the recovery! During the rest of your day, try recovering from your hardcore WODs by getting enough water, refueling with proper nutrition, having a healthy positive mindset, finding plenty of restful sleep, mobilizing/stretching, and getting overall life enjoyment. Don’t let your lifestyle cancel out the amazing work you are putting in at the gym. Use that one hour per day to motivate you to spread the “healthy” to the rest of your life. The act of CrossFit alone cannot change your life, you must use it to make an active change for the better in everything you do.
If you’ve been feeling like results aren't there or that you’re not improving, take a second to analyze the way you are living. See the list above and ask yourself how those things are going for ya! PLEASE remember that YOU going to CrossFit is a BIG first step but it is only one foot into the success of your journey. If you need someone to help you look for small and realistic lifestyle changes to advance your recovery and performance, please ask one of your coaches and we would be more than happy to give you tools and suggestions for greater success!
