170517 - BAMF Day AND Faces of Choice City - Nicole

Nicole is a hard working momma! I was thrilled when Andreas, her hubby, decided to bring his wife to try us out! I knew from the very beginning that she would not only make huge strides but also would enjoy the challenge. She's hilarious and honest and a total sweetheart!

Tell us about yourself!
I was born in Waterbury CT, birthday is July 4th, since 19 years of age till now I have also lived in Florida, Ohio, and Colorado. I met Andreas my husband in Florida in 2006 when we were Realtors, been married since 2014 but together for 11 years. We have an awesome 13 month old son Alexander. I have had a job since the age of 15, have college degrees 1 associates in paralegal and a bachelor's in business accounting and communication. I started my own professional organizing business in 2012 and quickly gained success by sincerely and effectively helping others in their home and small businesses. I now mainly stay home to care for my son and be Susy homemaker...which is a huge blessing for my family. I love everything outdoors, crafty, social, or food related... really anything new...potentially fun.

Why do you "CrossFit"?
I CrossFit because...my husband started way before me, I didn't start at the same time because first I wasn't sure if "lifting heavy weights" (which is what I thought cf was about) was for me, and I became pregnant with Alexander. I always did exercises like yoga, walking, or took classes here and there but never really pushed myself like I do now. Even when Andreas and I had a personal trainer in Ohio I wasn't that challenged and had very little understanding of how to workout. We are very health conscious and don't eat junk or fast food or drink soda for example so I have become very frustrated when I find it hard to loose weight or be more fit/healthy. Since my son was born and I started staying home from work more I knew I had to do something because things weren't getting better on there own and even my mood was less pleasant because of the lack of physical activity and the general stress of a new baby. I tell everyone... that I knew I was out shape before starting CrossFit but I have since realized that I had no shape as I call it... I thought I was strong aka had muscles...yah I am strong but not necessarily in the long lasting health maintaining kind of way that I need and want to be for myself and my family in the long run. So once I tried CrossFit and realized that I can achieve my health and wellness goals on my terms but with all the help and support on call that I could possibly ever need... what's my excuse then? I don't have one!

What makes Choice City so special?
I am the type of person that wants to do everything right so when the coaches show us how to do a movement or tell us why it is important to do something I listen and take it very seriously. And I am also the type that hates BS so I don't like small talk I like results and concrete action. I also care very much for others and their needs and wants and really thrive on others being proud of me. For me Choice City fullfills all of these things when I am there working out and that is why I come back. And I can't wait for the day that I can say that if I miss a day at the gym that it feels weird and not normal... which I am starting to be like already.
