Get your Vitamin D.
It’s that time of year folks! In between snowstorms, you’ll have some 60 and 70 degree weather, perfect for getting that vitamin D!
Getting it from vitamin D enriched foods often isn’t enough. The best way to get it is by exposing as much skin as legally possible and spending enough time outside to be a little pink the next day. So for you fair-haired and skinned folks, you need less sunlight to get what you need. Us folks with a little more melanin need more.
Exposing your back provides lots more surface area to get the mechanism working. If you’re like me and rock the farmer’s tan most of the year, here’s a great opportunity to work on evening it out. Get those legs out there too!
Vitamin D can help fight cancer, heart disease, fractures and falls, autoimmune diseases, influenza, type 2 diabetes (and pre-diabetic conditions) and depression.
So bottom line, get some sunshine!
