160928 - CrossFit | Wednesdays with Coach Lauren

Picture yourself running around a track. (Yes I know, EW gross, but stick with me.) You’ve already gone around a couple of times and although you’re going a decent pace, you’re already sick of this. NOW, I come along and run next to you. I challenge you to keep up! I say lots of motivating things! Soon, Rene approaches and wants in on the action. Now how’s that enthusiasm and speed? Coach Michael randomly appears on the sidelines clapping for you and counting you down! I’m pretty sure at this point, you’ve now engaged whatever Beast Mode Track Star you’ve had hidden deep inside. Well, guess what!? We get THAT kind of motivation DAILY at our gym and it’s called the FIT FAM. 

Our fitness family is important to us at CCCF. It creates individual accountability, healthy competition, unending encouragement, a fun environment, and TONS of motivation. If fitness is to be incorporated into your routine and integrated regularly into your lifestyle than the social aspect is crucial. We are social creatures and want to share our experiences with others. 

In a study conducted by Stanford University, the participants who received bi-weekly computerized phone calls to check on adherence to a fitness regimen, boosted their minutes of exercise per week of by a whopping 78% over the course of 12 months!!! Now imagine that instead of a robot phone call…you have face-to-face interactions with awesome people that you recognize and know by name telling you things like ----> “See you Thursday!” OR “Great job today!” OR “What class are you coming to tomorrow?” Those interactions are putting more and more people on that metaphorical track with you. They are running right alongside you and motivating you to go further and faster than ever before. And some days, those people will be one of the only reasons you even show up to the track at all and that’s fine too! 

MY CHALLENGE TO YOU IS THIS!!!
If you haven’t met everyone in the family yet, that’s okay! There’s a bunch of us and we are welcoming new members all the time! Just start by introducing yourself and sharing a little bit about who you are to the other great athletes that are in your class. Attend some of our “Outside the Box” gym events too! Making these connections with fellow athletes will not only make your experience inside the gym better, but it will also keep you coming back for more! That’s how the fit fam do!
