Why are you here?
What's your big why? Why do you work out? Maybe it is so that you can set a good example for your children and be able to keep up with them. Maybe it is so you can pursue your seasonal hobby of snowboarding or windsurfing. Maybe you want to run your first 5k. Maybe you like to challenge yourself and see what your body can do in new situations. Maybe you want to be able to give your dog the exercise it craves. Maybe you want to be able to take advantage of any opportunity that comes your way- be it sky diving, an epic hike, or an active vacation adventure.
Motivation can be fleeting. Setting up systems for success and continued regular exercise start with having a big why. You can fall back on it when you have an extremely difficult workout, are really sore, or just are not in the right mindset.
If you don't already know your big why, spend some time to think about it. There's no one right answer, only what is true for you. Let this big why guide you on your fitness journey, as you continue to grow and learn new things. Check in every so often- you might be surprised to find you are achieving your big why without realizing how far you have come! If so, pat yourself on the back. You did it! Keep working with that big why goal in mind, and re-evaluate as needed.
