160921 - CrossFit | Wednesdays with Coach Lauren

CONGRATS to all of our CCCF competitors at this weekend’s “Project Uplift” and BIG thank you to all of those that came out to cheer them on! We helped out a local charity to benefit kiddos in our community and bonded even more as a fit family.

I thought now would be the perfect time to highlight the reasons why I think competition is POWERFUL and IMPORTANT!

Getting started
Nothing says “Better get your butt in gear!” like a deadline that’s only a few months away! No time like the present! There’s practically an event in every sport…for every level of athlete…every weekend. Find an event that works for you and SIGN UP!

Setting Goals
Competitions create a goal that needs to be accomplished by a very specific date and can help create the framework for planning and preparing for the work ahead!

Building and Sharing Enthusiasm
Tell your friends! Get them pumped about the awesome thing you are going to do! It’s way more fun and exciting with crowds of people cheering for you!

Showing Progress
Doing better in a competition is some of the best evidence to your growth! From one year to the next, the competition might change a bit but it will be obvious how much progress you have made if you’ve been working hard at it!

Kicking Butt
Run faster and further than you ever have! Lift heavier and more efficient than any other normal day. Let the craziness and excitement of the competition take over so your body can have some “Hulk Smash” adrenaline filled moments.

Collecting Swag
Let’s be honest, the cool shirts and swag bags and free foods and blingy medals don’t hurt when it comes to deciding on doing an event or not. Fun little bonuses!

Having Fun
It is just a blast! Ask anyone from this weekend! Even if you are dead by the end and can’t move, there will most likely be a giant smile on your face and good times were had.

Sharing the Experience
Blood, sweat, and tears connect people. Those awesome athletes you perform next to, you will forever be bonded with. You understand each other on a deeper level because you suffered together and survived!

Finding yourself
When you stand at the start line with 13.1 miles of work in front of you, you discover who you are. When you stand in front of a heavy bar that needs to be picked up 15 times, you find out what you’re made of. Nothing shows you who you are deep down like a trial of your physical and mental strength after weeks or months of training.

As Coach Michael said in his post, if you want to compete then let us know so we can help you find a competition and make a plan together! Don’t let negative thoughts hold you back when…as seen above...there are so many reasons to get out there and COMPETE!
