160104 - CrossFit | Watching and Mimicking Movement.
We all know who those folks are, the one who make us look like
bulls in a china shop. The folks that make hard movements look
so effortless that you wonder if they were born being able to do
the things they do.
Continue to watch those people. They've honed their abilities in
those movements over and over and over again.
People often remark that I make things look easy when I demonstrate
them. That's from years of watching video, doing the movements,
analyzing and working out how to make them the most efficient and
practicing.
I see athletes go both ways: watching when they should be doing (like
in the middle of a WOD) or worse, getting sucked into performance
tunnel vision, where they're obviously doing it really wrong and aren't
in the moment enough to fix it.
The best way to get better is to observe, practice, listen to the coach,
adjust accordingly and practice some more. Weight and speed will come.
